Xin Wang is a lecturer of Communication in the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and research fellow of Joint Educational Program in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature and M.A. in Mass Communication from Beijing University, China. She graduated with a Ph.D. degree from USC Annenberg School in 2018 and is currently teaching undergraduates Cross-cultural Environmental Communication and Public Speaking. Trained in rhetoric and journalism, Dr. Wang specializes in environmental communication, organizational communication, big data and social media study, branding strategies and development, and intercultural communication and journalism. She is also skilled at the use of narratives — in contrast to more traditional interventions — to change individual and normative beliefs and behavior on topics ranging from stereotyping, climate change, community building and serving, early intervention and special education for autistic children, health communication and management. Dr. Wang had eight years of working experience as a professional journalist and media manager at the People’s Daily — the largest media group in China, she was also a co-founder and Vice Editor-in-chief of China Energy News. Dr. Wang is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® with a strong background in strategic communication and digital marketing. She is fluent in Mandarin, English and Russian languages.
