Seonah Kim is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Communication at the University of Washington. Her research examines the role of mass and digital media in creating cultural discourses of racial, gender, and (inter)national disparities in South Korea and the U.S. In her dissertation project, she investigate cultural sites of skin-darkening beauty in South Korea, employing multiple qualitative methods including critical discourse analysis, on-site participation, and in-depth interviews.
