Carla Costa Sandine joined Kaiser Permanente Washington in May 2023 as Vice President of Communications, Marketing, and Community Health.
In this role, Carla oversees internal and external communications, brand and reputation, media relations, issues management, executive communications, digital and social media, marketing, and advertising. She also manages Kaiser Permanente Washington’s community health portfolio, including medical financial assistance and charitable care as well as grants and community health initiatives.
She is a seasoned leader with over 20 years experience in the public health, biotech, and health care sectors.
Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Carla spent seven years with PATH, the global public health and life sciences organization with a mission of advancing health equity. As Chief of External Affairs, Carla led PATH’s 90-person communications and marketing, advocacy and policy, and philanthropy division.
Prior to her role with PATH, Carla founded, built, and sold a strategic communications firm that served public, private, and social organizations and political campaigns. Previously Carla served in multiple roles with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), including Public Affairs Officer, and HIV/AIDS Program Outreach Manager. She was also the head of marketing for a health care recruiting firm and a digital advertising consultant.
Carla has served in board and committee roles with the World Economic Forum, Social Venture Partners, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Planned Parenthood.
